A toast to our small victories and the people we...
A year and a half ago, I walked into my brand new boss’s office, a little bit nervous. Ok, terrified. Sitting in your boss’s office still felt like sitting in the principal’s’s office at school. That had never happened to me before, but I felt as though the churning in my stomach, the unbelievable amount of sweat that was soaking through my shirt and my inability to keep...

My dating advice is flawless
Me: It should be a place that's kind of casual and fun but also where you can go for dates but not something that screams THIS IS A DATE! Nothing super intimate and where there's a good choice in booze. I'm not really sure what kind of place that is.
Kendra: It's called a bar, Lanie.

Riveting Workplace Conversations
Because I work somewhere with 100 employees with a variety of places where you can be in a confined space with any one of them at any given time (elevators, narrow hallways, stairs, lunchroom), I’m forced to make small talk quite often. In doing so, I’ve found that there are about four standard topics of small talk used in the workplace.

I started a book blog.
In order to hold myself accountable for reading 50 books this year, Charles suggested I start a book blog. So I did.

I’ll be answering the same four questions for each book I read. It’s mostly just to keep my thoughts somewhere, so it won’t be particularly well-written or insightful. Most of the entries will be ridiculously long and rambling....

The More Things Change...
The more they stay the same. Seriously.
I found my “informal introduction to me” from July 2004 on my LJ.
A few of the things on there?
I always have the time of my life with Gwen, Mackenzie and Kendra. (This is why I never had to make new friends — because I made the greatest ones once and could never top myself. Although I’m sad Gwen and I aren’t close any...

2011 Retrospective: Books!
In 2011, I read 28 books and 8 graphic novels. Not as many as I would’ve liked, but a fair amount I think. Here’s my year end rundown.
Top 5 Books (in no particular order)
One Day - David Nicchols “Live each day as if it’s your last’, that was the conventional advice, but really, who had the energy for that? What if it rained or you felt a bit glandy? It just...
